How to practise IELTS Speaking Part 1 questions
Give a direct answer first, add a reason, and finish with one small detail. Most Part 1 responses should remain natural and concise, so practise speaking for about 20 to 30 seconds instead of turning a familiar question into a memorised speech.
Build flexible personal examples
Group questions by familiar topics such as home, study, work, and interests. Prepare a few truthful details that can support several answers, but change the wording and focus for each prompt. Flexible details are safer than one fixed paragraph.
Notice the most common Part 1 mistake
A bare yes or no does not show enough language, while a long story can lose relevance. The common mistake is answering at the wrong length. Aim for two to four connected sentences with one clear personal detail.
Use a short Part 1 practice loop
Choose five related questions, answer each once, and mark where you hesitated. Repeat the two weakest answers with a clearer reason or example. The practice loop should improve fluency without encouraging you to memorise every sentence.
